Car Air Conditioning 101
What it does. The air conditioning in any car or SUV cools its interior during a drive. Not just the air in the cabin, either, but also things like the seats, armrests, and steering wheel -- everything that should stay comfortable enough to the touch to make -- or break -- a drive.
How it works. Like any car AC system, the one in your Volkswagen works in four stages. First, a compressor pressurizes refrigerant, turning it into a gas. Second, a condenser cools that gas, turning it back into a fluid. Third, an expansion valve draws the liquid in, where it once again becomes a gas -- this time, at a lower pressure. Lastly, an evaporator works with a fan to rapidly chill the gas. Colder air results, and that air travels through the ducts in the vehicle's HVAC, out its vents, and into the interior, keeping you and your passengers more comfortable when the weather's warm.
The signs of problem with it. They include weakened seals, degraded or broken hoses, and more. If your car AC doesn't cool properly, the problem's usually either low refrigerant or a refrigerant leak. A cabin temperature that's warmer than normal, on the other hand, can indicate AC compressor problems, as can unusual noise and a stuck compressor clutch. See frost accumulation, a flashing AC button, or a lit HVAC warning light, or notice discharge pressure issues, though, and you could have AC condenser problems.
Why Buy Air Conditioner Parts from VW Kearny Mesa Parts?
You won't find a wider selection than ours anywhere else, let alone online. We carry everything you're looking for, from compressors, condensers, and evaporators to receiver-dryers, expansion tubes, and more. Just select your VW model and model year, and you can start browsing right away.
What you buy will be OEM, namely, designed by VW to exacting standards, fitting and working just like factory car AC parts. Not all aftermarket AC parts are made with the same attention to quality and detail, some don't fit quite right, and some don't even fit right at all.
You'll pay less than MSRP, usually, depending on the type of air conditioning part and what your Volkswagen model is. You can sometimes even get steep discounts, too -- better prices, at any rate, than you'll find at most VW dealers in southern CA.
Run into an OEM AC part with a defect in materials or workmanship? Volkswagen warranty coverage can help take care of things. That peace of mind, you won't get shopping AC parts online at a lot of aftermarket VW parts stores.
